Is A “New” Call of Duty Coming?
Activision is expected to disrupt an almost twenty-year-old franchise by not releasing a new Call of Duty game next year. But new content will keep coming. The release of a new version of Call of Duty every year is something many gamers are used to, but Activision is set to do things a little differently in 2023.👀
According to rumors, we may not expect a new game next year, but that doesn't mean there won't be new content to enjoy. New "campaign content" has to be expected for the current Modern Warfare 2 game, which will go on sale this month, rather than a blockbuster release next year.
Jason Schreier of Bloomberg also supported the rumors. However, he also stated that he is not entirely sure how this will happen. Gamers are disappointed that there won't be a big new game next year.🤔
Activision Blizzard stated that the poor financial performance was due to decreased interest in Call of Duty after last year's premium version was met with less demand. The company expects to see improvement through the rest of 2022, thanks to the rapid start of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
CharlieINTEL reported on November 7 that Activision's financial statement confirmed a new premium version of Call of Duty in 2023. In the Activision statement; "Our plans for next year include the strongest Call of Duty operations to date and the next full premium version of the blockbuster annual franchise." said.💥
Treyarch is scheduled to work on the next CoD game. The development team hasn't released a game since Black Ops Cold War in 2020.
