Anticipation for Baldur's Gate 3 is through the roof, making it a frontrunner for the coveted Game of the Year title in 2023. But with a game already so grand in scope, the burning question remains: what's next?
Larian Studios, the creative minds behind this sensational release, are no strangers to success. Their past hit, "Divinity: Original Sin 2", was nothing short of a CRPG masterstroke, and the latest addition to the Baldur's Gate franchise is shaping up to be no less impressive.
Larian Studios Says, "We've Listened To Our Fans"
The epic scale of Baldur's Gate 3 is genuinely awe-inspiring. Boasting a campaign with a duration of around 100 hours and offering a jaw-dropping 17,000 endings, the game is already a treasure trove of adventures. It appears that the studio has spared no effort in plunging players into a deep, morally complex universe.
What Lies Ahead? Teasers on Upcoming DLC
Although the official word is still pending, a hint about potential DLC was dropped by none other than the game's director, Swen Vincke. In a conversation available on the official Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel, he didn't shy away from discussing what additional content might entail.
Vincke elaborated that incorporating post-level 12 content from the D&D universe would be challenging due to its potentially "game-shattering" nature. However, he intriguingly mentioned, "You could just do different things. It doesn't necessarily have to be at the end of the game." This suggests that Larian Studios might be considering DLC that could integrate into the ongoing main quest instead of being an end-game add-on. He even dropped another exciting notion, "You could make a level 12 to 20 game; it's a different game."
For those not immersed in the D&D world, spells and abilities unlocked beyond level 12 are nothing short of seismic game-changers. Implementing such colossal shifts could be a logistical nightmare if squeezed into a DLC for Baldur's Gate 3. Therefore, it's more plausible that we'll see new content running parallel to the main storyline.
